The Dalmar patented Aircooling system prevents overheating, a common problem with most eventer boots.

Horse Boots - technical information

Horse boots are becoming increasingly technical as the demands of riders and competitive sports increase.

Airflow

The more advanced boots are popular for a variety of riders and are especially designed for the rigours of competition use. These boots combine a high level of technology alongside rigorous testing to ensure lightweight but thorough protection of horse's legs, along with excellent airflow. For instance, Dalmar carbon fibre horse boots have a ballistic nylon wrap with built in airflow and carbon fibre plates which provide extremely high impact protection for tendons. The rigidity of the carbon fibre disperses any impacts away from the tendon. Dalmar horse boots are also designed to help keep the tendons cool, thereby reducing the risk of injury to the area. The harder the horse  is working, the greater the flow of cooling air, making Dalmar eventer horse boots excellent for the high demands of eventing.

Protection

The role of horse boots is to prtect the horse from striking itself or from injury due to concussion from hitting a jump. They also provide support for areas of the leg that can be under a lot of strain. A severe overreach strike is like the blow of an axe directly into a horse's tendons. Conventional Boots and Bandages are ineffective at properly protecting a horse from such severe strike. This is because the materials from which they are made: leather, toughened plastic or even fabric are too soft to withstand the force of a severe strike. Given the actual forces involved in an overreach, these materials just cannot cope and bend under the force. In the event of such a strike the force of the impact is distributed over the entire length of the boot and immediately deflected away from the horse’s Flexor Tendons and Suspensory Ligament. The carbon fibre is carefully located only where it is needed so allowing complete safety and total freedom of movement of the horse.

Fastenings

The one-piece instant wrap fastener ensures a very secure fit and even pressure on the horse's leg. It overcomes the problems associated with restricted blood and lymph flow caused by the use of bandages or multi strap boots. It also enables the boots to be put on and taken of instantly - an important feature for the busy yard.
